On December 11th, we departed aboard Carnival's ship, the Inspiration, for a 5-day western Caribbean cruise.  The trip was loads of fun!  The Inspiration was built in 1996.  It holds 2,052 passengers and had some exotic decor throughout.  The pool area was lots of fun and the popular pool slide stayed busy!  The entertainment by the pool was fantastic and really put you in the Caribbean mood.

Our first port of call was Grand Cayman. We had signed up for a snorkel excursion but it was cancelled due to high seas.  So we hopped in a cab and went to the Seven Mile Beach (which is actually 5 1/2 miles!).  You can still see some of the damage caused by the hurricane and workers were everywhere trying to cleanup and rebuild.  There were piles of debris scattered about and damaged cars. The vegetation on the island was affected so it was not as green as it should be. The beach was in great shape and the water crystal blue. Before we returned to the ship, we had some cool beverages at a beach bar and enjoyed the scenery.  Our time in Grand Cayman was limited so I wish we had more time there. I will definitely go back and hope to enjoy some of the water sports.

Our next stop was Cozumel, Mexico. We decided to visit the Mayan ruins of Tulum.  I've been there before but I wanted my sons to see it.  The temple is impressive and the grounds of the complex are beautiful. Our guide gave us a great tour and historical background of the site.  We had some free time to explore before returning to the ship.

Our day at sea on the return was a little cloudy and cool so we enjoyed all of the activities the ship had to offer. We spent some time in the casino, did a little shopping, enjoyed a movie in our cabin! The food on-board was very good.  The buffets were fabulous with lots of choices and the pool grill had great hamburgers!  The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs.  I stayed in a suite and enjoyed the extra space and balcony.  It was great to sit out on the balcony and watch the sunset each evening before dinner!

I will be planning another Seminar at Sea sometime in 2005 so check back!
